Recalls Recalls, We All Call for Recalls!
Wow, what a week it's been. First Toyota decides to recall 400,000 Prius and other hybrid cars for braking problems. Mind you, this was on the heels of a global recall of over 7 million vehicles in recent months because of sudden acceleration and other problems! It gets worse, Toyota also recalled 7,300 Toyota Camrys to check for a power steering problem.
Here is the list of recalled Toyota and Lexus vehicles: 2.3 million of the following vehicles for sticky gas pedals:

2009-10 Matrix
2005-10 Avalon
2007-10 Camry
2010 Highlander
2007-10 Tundra
2008-10 Sequoia
2009-10 RAV4
Toyota recalled over 5.3 million vehicles for floor mat entrapment of the gas pedals:

2005-10 Avalon
2004-09 Prius
2005-10 Tacoma
2007-10 Tundra
2008-10 Highlander
2009-10 Corolla
2009-10 Venza
2009-10 Matrix
2007-10 Lexus ES 350
2006-10 Lexus IS250/IS350
2009-10 Pontiac Vibe built by Toyota and GM

Toyota recalled 147,500 vehicles on hybrids affected by non-responsive brakes:
2010 Prius
2010 Lexus HS350h
Toyota recalled 7,300 vehicles for power steering problems:
2010 Camry
It gets worse for the Japanese automakers. Honda expanded its global recall of vehicles with air bag problems. That recall affects 2001 and 2002 Accords sedans, Civic compacts, Odyssey minivans, CR-V small utility vehicles and some Acura TL sedans.
Whatever you think about the "Buy American" slogan, maybe it's time to start paying attention and buying American. American manufacturers have come a long way, baby!
